Gather Wine Bar!

Hey guys,

I hope you’re doing well.

I’ve got a concert coming up at the Gather Wine Bar in the old village of Arroyo Grande.  You’ve probably heard of it, this place is great, and they have live music aaaall the time.  I’ve played there a few times before in fact.  It’s a great place to hang out and I am so excited to have a show in a proper venue again after such a long stretch of outdoor Farmer’s Market shows (which are fun, don’t get me wrong, but there’s something special about being in a good room with a receptive crowd).

I’ll have free download cards to hand out of my new song Never Let Me Go (maybe you’ve heard it?) and I’ll be playing a lot of brand new songs for the first time, including one no one’s ever heard called Walk You Home that just placed in the New Times Music Awards!  I don’t find out exactly what place I got until the Awards event on October 13th, but it’s really exciting to just be included.  Anyway if you wanna hear the winning song, come to the show!  It is 21 and over, and there’s no cover charge for paying customers.

I’ve been doing a lot of recording, as you may know, for my upcoming album and for the New Times Music Awards (Deadline is the 5th, I’m nearly ready!). I’ve got an awesome version of my new-ish song called “Never Let Me Go” recorded and I’m releasing it as a single!

You can listen to it right now at music.lorenradis.com if you like, but the only way to get a download of it is to come to my Farmer’s Show tomorrow night (Thursday the 1st) and buy a little something, I’m giving away free downloads with every purchase!

Last Minute Show Tonight!

Hey, if you’re reading this anytime on Thursday the 11th, then I’ve got a show tonight at Fin’s in Grover Beach from 5:30 to 8:30!  I got invited by the talented Natalie Haskins to share the three hour slot with her and a few other local acts, it should be a good time!  Anywho, it’s at the end of Grand Avenue in Grover Beach : 25 West Grand Avenue

One More Time, With Feeling!

I’m playing at Farmer’s Market again! This Thursday, the 7th, on Chorro Street! I haven’t had two in a row like this in a long time, should be fun! Last week was totally awesome, thanks a ton to everyone who stopped by to listen, dance, chat, buy a CD, all that good stuff!

There’s No Need To Be Alone

John Lennon recorded 6 different demos of his song “Real Love”. The three remaining Beatles, years after John’s death, got together and compiled one coherent song from those demos and original music they recorded in accomaniment.

It was comforting to hear that even a musician I respect as much as John Lennon had trouble writing his songs, re-writing and re-recording them time and again and even forgetting them altogether at times.

I’m working on a cover of “Real Love” and I thought it might be fun to share a little bit of the process with you.

Above is a super rough recording I did to lay down some of my ideas. The click track is in there (Just a simple drum-beat) and my scratch track (a quick demo take usually with one instrument and a voice that helps you keep track of where you are in the song) is in there too. This is the very first recording, a groundwork to build off of. More than likely none of what’s in this version will be in the final. If you find that interesting then that’s awesome.

I’ve got shows coming up, I went from none to 3 in the space of a few weeks. They’re all Farmer’s Market shows, I’ll be playing at Farmer’s on Chorro Street on June 30th, July 7th, and September 1st! They all start at 6:30pm, they’re all free, and they’ll all be awesome. See you there!

KCPR Writer’s Block – Tuesday the 10th

New Coffee Shop in SLO

I keep hearing great things about this new coffee shop/used bookstore in SLO called Kreuzberg and I’ve been wanting to play there for months now!  It finally worked out and I got a date this Saturday at 9pm!  That’s March 5th, 9pm.  Check out this article in the New Times about the place! http://www.newtimesslo.com/strokes-and-plugs/5293/cruise-to-kreuzberg/

Hey, I’m playing this Thursday again at the SLO Farmer’s Market!  I won’t lie to you, it might be cold, but it should be a lot of fun too.  I’ll be at the corner of Chorro and Higuera from 6:30 to 8:30 this Thursday the 17th!  I haven’t had a show in a pretty long time and I was attacked by a pretty vicious flu about a week ago so I’m really excited to be feeling healthy enough to play!

Farmer’s Market’s Galore!

I’m playing shows!  The SLO Farmer’s Market is every Thursday night on Higuera Street up in San Luis Obispo from 6 to 9 and I’ve got some dates there over the next few months.

It’s so cool that the city puts the Farmer’s Market on, and literally hundreds of local vendors come out to sell everything imagineable, from locally grown produce to steak to teriyaki bowls to balloon animals and pillow pets!  And every corner has a performer booked, so there’s tons of variety of entertainment all night long.

I’ll be filling the “Schmaltzy Singer/Songwriter” gap on Chorro street tomorrow night, the 6th from 6:30 to 8:30 and I hope to see you there!  It’s my first show of the new year and I’ve got a good feeling about this one.
