New Christmas Songs Part 2

Here ya go, the second two Christmas songs from my new EP, “It’s Christmas Time“.

This week’s tunes are “Winter Wonderland” and “Silent Night“!

Loren Radis - It's Christmas Time - Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland is an interesting case as it’s the first “Christmas” song I’ve recorded that’s not really a Christmas song, it’s just celebrating the season of winter but I still associate it with the holidays and it’s just such a pleasant song, I had fun working on it.

Silent Night is one of my very favorite Christmas songs, in the top 5 for sure.  I struggled a little bit with my rendition, I went for a capella at first but it just didn’t feel right, then I went way over the top with the arrangement and it got too busy so I had to tone it back down.  I think it came out alright, the mood of the song is the most important part to me, the atmosphere.  I hope you enjoy these both :)

Remember you can do whatever you want with these, download them for free, share with friends and family, post on your website/blog/facebook/whatever, put them on your Christmas mix, they’re yours to do with what you will.  Don’t forget that while you have the option to pay nothing I’m also accepting donations in whatever amount you feel led to give and I’ll be donating any and all proceeds from this Christmas album to Child’s Play, Compassion International, Blood Water Mission, and Angel Tree.

If you’ve already downloaded the tracks but you feel the desire to donate then you can always use the donation button over there on the right!  (Also right here!)

So thanks a lot, tune in next week for the last batch of songs, I’ve saved the best for last, trust me!  Pleasant Winter to you or, as they say, Bon Iver!

Christmas Time is Here

Hi there.  I don’t know if you know, but I love Christmas.  But enough about me.  Sort of.

I recorded a Christmas EP back in 2009 and I wanted to share the songs from it with you guys again this year, because they’re fun!  So, starting today I’ll be re-releasing one of the songs from that album every Thursday between now and Thanksgiving.  Check back on the website, facebook, twitter, whatever, to get the songs!

So this thing kicks off today!  Here’s the first song off of my EP, it’s a cover of O’ Holy Night.  I hope you love it!

Download it for free here – http://music.lorenradis.com/track/o-holy-night

So!  While I’ve got you here, the other thing I’d like to do with each song I release is talk a little bit about a charity or other group that’s doing something worth talking about this Christmas.  That’s what it’s really all about right, helping people?  So this month, I want to talk to you about Compassion International.

From their website - “Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.

Founded by the Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training.

Today, Compassion helps more than 1.2 million children in 26 countries.”

This is one of those “Adopt A Child” programs where you can commit to a monthly gift for one specific child who you then get pictures of, can correspond with, and can buy Christmas and Birthday presents for!  Well, for Christmas they’re running a special program where you can send a one-time gift to a child or family in need on your own behalf or in honor of a loved one.  Check out the details here – http://www.compassion.com/catalog.htm

The gifts vary in price from extremely affordable to extremely generous, and I’d encourage anyone interested to help to the best of their ability!  Before we get to far, you may have noticed this is a Christian organization, and I’m aware that not everyone reading this is a Christian.  Helping children in need get clothing, food, and an education, however, is not a Christian ideal.  I believe it’s a human ideal and one worth supporting regardless of someone’s religious affiliation or lack there-of.

So to sum up, I hope you like the song, feel free to download it for free and share it with your friends and family, and I hope you get a chance to check out Compassion’s website and consider lending a helping hand to one of the most deserving groups I can think of, underpriviledged children.
